When brunching, sometimes the most difficult decision to make is savory or sweet, and usually you want both. So do you force someone to split a waffle or pancake with you or do you make the bold choice to order one or the other and sulk in jealousy when the one you didn’t choose arrives in front of your friend? Luckily, Wildberry Pancakes and Café in Chicago takes care of that—and you can still get in on some sharing action.

Wildberry offers a variety of crazy good egg dishes and an impressive pancake menu as well. The kicker? Each egg entrée comes with your choice of toast or pancakes—or sub in a specialty pancake for only $1 more. Obviously this is the place to be on the mornings you know you want both.

You can’t go wrong here with specialty benedicts, eggs-quisite omelettes, fresh egg entrees, and their sizzlin’ skillets (aka the best hash you’ve ever had). Their specialty pancake list offers buttermilk, a selection of berries, banana cream pie, oreo s’mores, cinnamon roll, and more. Oh, and they’ve got all the Belgian waffles, crepes, French toast creations you could dream of (and some good lunch options as well). Oh! And I almost forgot the fresh squeezed orange juice—always a plus.

On this visit, I opted for the Mexicana sizzlin’ skillet, which was a hash of potatoes, cheddar & jack cheese, two eggs (scrambled, my choice), chorizo sausage, jalapeno, avocado, cilantro, and onions. Now how can anyone go wrong with that combination?

We decided to sub in a specialty pancake and went with the “Signature Berry Bliss” because, why not? The plate came with two beautiful berry pancakes drizzled in vanilla anglaise, blackberry coulis, and berry mascarpone, with fresh berries on the side. Yum.

Wildberry is definitely a place to check out when you want the best of both worlds for brunch. Pancakes and eggs—can’t really be beat.
