Find yourself in the Midlands, England and looking for the perfect pub to stop at for a meal? The Bear, a historic ale house, is the just the spot. The menu features classic pub fair such as traditional roasts, fish and chips, and more and boasts a cozy atmosphere with low ceilings and that typical English charm.

On a stop here for a late lunch, I enjoyed a roast beef with vegetables, roasted potatoes, gravy, and a Yorkshire pudding. In following suite, I added a dollop of horseradish sauce to the meat. The juices from the beef mixed with the vegetables, potatoes, and pudding for a tasty combination. And the pretty plates added to the overall charm of this old British pub.

The classic English ales perfectly complimented the meal and no meal is complete without dessert. I went with the cheesecake sharer (which, of course, I shared!), which featured nicely sized samples of four delicious cheesecakes (and sauces AND vanilla ice cream on the side): rhubarb and vanilla custard, chocolate-covered raisins with fudge sauce, apple and shortbread crumble, and sherry-soaked trifle. Okay, I may have had a little bit of trouble finishing my share, but hey, it was good size dessert and definitely worth ordering. And, yes, I was still enjoying my British ales with the dessert.
