While I always enjoy a nice view with my meal and do make an effort to seek out restaurants and bars with rooftops or nice window views, many times the meal itself is disappointing once you get up there. At Duck & Waffle, that is definitely not the case. I am still drooling over this incredible meal. You take the elevator up to the 40th floor (please note that I am afraid of heights, and the elevator is all glass so I had to cover my eyes for the ride up!), then we were seated at a table right next to the window, which is floor to ceiling, and boasts incredible views of London. I made a reservation in advance, which I would recommend doing. They do take walk-ins but you aren’t guaranteed a window table and you may have to wait a while to be seated. It’s also open 24/7, which means you can get your duck and waffle breakfast fix any time of the day! Since we went for breakfast, I ordered an iced coffee to get my morning going, although there is also the option for champagne if you feel so inclined to start early.

Obviously, at a place called Duck & Waffle you assume that there will be both duck and waffles on the menu – and you are correct. With so many tasty options to choose from, I went with the savory choice of Duck Benedict, which is a poached egg and crispy duck leg over a waffle with a nice drizzle of Sriracha. They also offer a classic Duck & Waffle dish, which looked equally delicious, featuring crispy duck leg confit and a fried duck egg on top a waffle and drizzled with mustard maple syrup – something to try on my next visit, for sure. It was delicious, probably one of the best Benedicts I’ve ever had.

And don’t forget dessert. In addition to the savory waffle and other breakfast options, they also offer an awesome variety of sweet waffles. It was a difficult choice to make, but we ended up deciding on the Toffee Apple waffle – baked Granny Smith apple on a waffle, topped with cinnamon ice cream and drizzled with maple sauce. The apples were cooked perfectly, the hazelnuts gave an extra crunch to each delicious bite and the cinnamon ice cream was also on point. Ever since I was a child, I always loved cinnamon ice cream but found it rarely offered on menus, so whenever I do see it, I have to have it. All in all, this was a perfect meal and I highly recommend checking it out the next time you’re in London.
